Rose Hill Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 1,000 confederate soldiers, a few famous entertainers, and numerous state governors and congressmen. Founded in 1840, the cemetery contains numerous beautiful and somber grave markers and monuments, from miniature Greek temples to statues of angels. The cemetery is located beside the placid Ocmulgee River in downtown Macon.
